Awardwinning Rolling Jenny is here to make freight electric, autonomous and more efficient
Freight transport is entering a new era. With Rolling Jenny, Swedish innovation company Mika introduces a fully electric and autonomous transport solution. Rolling Jenny is designed to maximize freight flow efficiency, cut costs, reduce emissions, tackle the industry’s driver shortage and keep goods in motion 24/7. The innovative design recently received a Red Dot award.
Traditional road freight often faces challenges with idle trucks, half-empty loads, and a large carbon footprint. Rolling Jenny changes that. Built as a transport-as-a-service platform, it is designed to meet real-time capacity needs. Early modeling shows potential for flow efficiency to exceed 80%, operational cost reductions up to 50% and a significantly reduced CO₂ footprint compared to traditional Battery Electric Trucks.
The 100% electric hauler operates for more than 20 hours per day, compared to around six hours for conventional trucks, reducing downtime and warehouse dependency while eliminating the complexities associated with staffing.

By focusing on designing a solution that is centered around the goods flow, the results are significantly reduced energy consumption and materials usage. Furthermore, it drives uptime and productivity – overall contributing to a reduced environmental footprint.
“We designed Rolling Jenny around the principle of freight that never sleeps”
says Stefan Ohlsson, co-founder of Mika.
By removing waste and keeping goods moving continuously, we’re setting a new standard for short-haul, middle-mile logistics.
The time is right. New regulations are being implemented, automotive-grade hardware is available off the shelf, and generative AI is transforming perception, simulation, and control — cutting both time and cost for autonomous transport development.
“It’s a turning point, what once took billions of dollars to build can now be achieved faster, safer, and more efficiently.”
says Mikael Karlsson, co-founder of Mika.
The first Rolling Jenny prototype is now under construction in Sweden and has already earned a Red Dot Design Award for its innovative concept.
“We are now looking forward to piloting the solution in a live setting,”
says Mikael Karlsson.
